Covenant House Texas Annual Spring Gala “Majestic Passages” raises nearly $800,000

Over 500 generous supporters attended the Covenant House Texas Gala on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the Hilton Americas Houston. The theme, “Majestic Passages: Journey to a Better Life,” was a magical, colorful evening, which generated nearly $800,000 in gross proceeds for homeless youth at Covenant House Texas.

This year’s wonderful event was spearheaded by gala chair, Jo Ann Petersen. Guests included Casey and Bubba Beyer, Trisha and Paul Bonar, Cathy and Joe Cleary, Yvonne and Tim Conklin, Jackie and Monty Eubank, Tonya and Hank Hamilton, Polly and Bill McKeon, Marlene and Kurt Nondorf, Mike Taylor, Patti and Tom Turner, and Sharon and Randy Walker.

The evening was emceed by David Paul of KHOU-TV, Channel 11 and Miranda Sevcik. The highlight of the evening was a touching speech by current Covenant House Texas resident, Christina, who shared her disheartening challenges and overwhelming victories in her personal journey. Lisa and John Sarvadi and Texas Capital Bank were honored for their unwavering support of Covenant House Texas.

One of the most memorable aspects of the evening was led by Bill King and Mike Holland. With their leadership over $100,000 was raised for “Scholarships of Hope” to support programs for food, shelter, educational/vocational training, medical care and counseling for at-risk youth. The night concluded with Empire 6’s tunes and a full dance floor.
