Covenant House Texas celebrated the beginning of the Houston Livestock & Rodeo with Go Western Day. This is the third year for Go Western Day organized by CHT employee, Ron Armstrong. The event keeps growing every year. This year Ron, aka Coach by the youth, added a barbeque tasting contest. This year’s contest had two entries and was judged by board members, Brett Hamilton and Tom Kurz. Mr. Hamilton enjoyed himself adding,”This was truly one of the coolest things I have seen at Covenant House.” Everyone enjoyed the tasting and hope there will be more booths next year.
In addition to the barbecue contest, CHT youth were able to participate in a bull riding and best-dressed contest. Staff and youth all joined in on the fun! The youth look forward to this event, it’s one of the highlights at CHT.
