The CHT Young Professionals hosted their first career day event for the youth on September 12.
The youth were able to learn more about careers in law, healthcare, and oil and gas from community members close to their age. They heard from Kelly Woods, personal injury lawyer at Abraham and Watkins; Autumn Hinson, a nurse at Ben Taub Hospital; and Ernest Alba, a designer from DCP. Covenant House Texas Young Professional member, Alvin Adjei, served as moderator.
They youth were very engaged, asking many questions about what they needed to do to have a successful career in each industry. The young professionals plan to schedule another career event for the youth in the winter.
The CHT Young Professionals socialize with like-minded professionals, generate funds for Covenant House Texas, and engage in service to benefit the lives of homeless youth in the Greater Houston Area.
