Announcement comes as organization prepares to expand capacity and services with newly built campus
HOUSTON (April 30, 2025) – Covenant House Texas, the Montrose-based nonprofit that provides housing and support services to youth experiencing homelessness, has appointed accomplished nonprofit leader Anthony Flynn as the organization’s new chief executive officer. Flynn’s appointment comes as the organization prepares to open a new, state-of-the-art campus on Lovett Boulevard that will enable them to serve 50% more at-risk youth seeking shelter and resources that will help them build an independent life.
With a deep commitment to helping others succeed in work and life, Flynn most recently served as chief executive officer of WorkFaith, a nonprofit organization that provides faith-based training and coaching to those seeking long-term employment. During his tenure, he consistently increased year-over-year revenue, grew the number of clients served in a five-year period to more than 21,000, and oversaw the development and launch of an on-demand platform that allowed clients to participate in trainings on their schedule.
“Anthony’s experience as a caring and forward-thinking nonprofit leader, combined with a clear passion for serving the vulnerable in our community, makes him the ideal person to lead our organization as we embark on an exciting new chapter,” said Mike Holland, Covenant House Texas board chair. “Anthony not only brings a strong track record of strategic leadership and community impact, but also a heart that aligns with our mission to offer unconditional love and support to every young person who walks through our doors.”
In his role, Flynn will lead a new era at Covenant House Texas as they open their new, 104,000-square-foot facility in Montrose. The four-story building allows Covenant House Texas to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 150 youth nightly, as well as many support services needed to help Covenant House residents, ages 18 – 24, as they recover from the trauma of homelessness and trafficking and work toward a new, independent future.
“It is an incredible honor to join Covenant House Texas and lead an organization that is so thoughtfully committed to helping youth experiencing homelessness find their own path to lasting independence,” said Flynn. “As we look to the future, I’m excited to build on the strong foundation already in place and help guide Covenant House Texas into its next phase of growth, impact and transformative care.”
Prior to joining WorkFaith, Flynn spent more than two decades successfully leading nonprofits to their next stage of strategic growth and impact, including founding The Gifted Education Foundation in Atlanta that helps produce first generation college graduates and marketplace leaders from low-income communities. A sought-after executive coach and public speaker, he is a member of the Fast Company Executive Board and writes on topics that help senior executives increase productivity and profitability.
Flynn holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Memphis and received a Master of Arts in Religion from Memphis Theological Seminary.
