GUILD

The Covenant House Texas Guild is a membership group of active, caring and concerned citizens committed to serving the homeless youth of Houston. Our mission is to support and encourage the growth and development of our youth through auxiliary activities approved by the Covenant House Texas Board of Directors.

The Covenant House Texas Guild was formed in 1987 by four dedicated and caring community volunteers – Susan Stasney, Mary (Muffin) Clark, Peggy Roe, and Linda Ligon. From the first group of 52 charter members has evolved an organization with 240 plus members solely dedicated to the mission and youth of Covenant House Texas.

The major focus in the beginning was the positive interaction with the youth like the birthday and holiday parties and that still holds true. However, each year, the Guild not only engages in planning activities for our youth, members also participate in mentoring to a young person, teach life skills classes, adopt a youth for Christmas, provide lunch for staff appreciation and much more. In addition, the Guild hosts the Annual Spring Gala, the largest fundraising event for CHT.

The Covenant House Texas Guild was the first such volunteer organization of its kind among the Covenant Houses when it was formed 30 years ago. According to sources in the Covenant House corporate office, it is still one of a kind among all Covenant House sites.
