You don’t have to quit your day job to make a difference in your community. At Covenant House Texas, we believe that regular people who care deeply about homelessness in Houston can spark real change.

Whether you’re looking for a one-time project or weekly opportunities, you’re in the right place.  We have many service opportunities available on our campus for you to take action.

SPOTLIGHT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
FOR INDIVIDUALS

Intake Team

Be on the front lines of helping our homeless youth.  As part of the Intake Team, you will make a difference by providing excellent customer service skills and a helping hand.  From answering phones to making hygiene kits and providing additional walk in services, your commitment will truly be felt.

Crisis Shelter Team

Being a part of the Crisis Shelter team requires you to wear a variety of hats as you use your skills and experience to both serve our residents and further the mission of CHT.  You can choose to help in an administrative setting or take a more active role with our residents as you partner with staff for guided outcomes.  Either path will provide you with learning opportunities and a way to enhance your skills.

Education Team

This team collaborates, schedules and facilitates classes to all of our residents.  From Life Skills classes in the mornings to tutoring and GED classes in the evenings, you are the heart of our education endeavors.

Fitness & Wellness Team

Our fitness & wellness team offers a holistic approach to healthy living by spearheading fitness initiatives and nutrition courses.  You can volunteer to monitor the fitness room, teach an exercise class, help with the eating habits of our residents, help plant our container gardens and anything in between.  If you have a passion for a healthy lifestyle then this is the team for you.

FOR GROUPS

Cooking for a Cause

Grab fifteen of your closest friends/coworkers/group members and help make a difference by providing lunch or dinner for our residents.  Not only will you get to cook for them (or bring in catered food if you desire), but you will also spend time discussing a topic that is both engaging and thought provoking during the meal.  This is a great team building exercise and a chance to learn about homelessness in Houston while making a difference in the lives of those who are experiencing it.

Days of Service

Let CHT be your destination for giving back to the community while incorporating a bit of team building fun.  We can accommodate groups as small as 3 to as large as 75.  We’ll work with your team to provide the best volunteering experience possible.

VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If your work and/or school schedule are keeping you from volunteering at CHT, then our virtual volunteering opportunities might be for you.  These tasks are designed to be done on your own time while still making a difference in the Houston community.

In-Kind Support Team

Be our voice in your workplace or school campus.  Help organize targeted donation drives that help CHT and the residents we serve.  Examples include:
– clothing for job interviews
– furniture and appliance for their first apartment
– school supplies

For a complete list of the items we most need, please refer to our donation wish list

GET YOUR FAITH COMMUNITY INVOLVED

Your faith community will see lives transformed and, in the process, see change in your own lives. If you’d like to serve our young people, there are multiple ways to get involved. Organize a service project, or supply drive, raise funds for a specific need!!
